The Opportunity

Alliance Automation is seeking a hands-on Senior Infrastructure Engineer to support and improve our IT environments. Reporting to the IT Infrastructure & Security Lead, you will take ownership of complex technical work, provide senior escalation support and deliver practical infrastructure, network, endpoint and Microsoft 365 outcomes.

This role suits an experienced engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems, working across cloud and on-premises systems, and improving the reliability, security and supportability of a varied multi-site workplace.

Key Responsibilities

· Design, implement, and support secure and scalable network and infrastructure solutions.

· Manage Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, and related cloud technologies.

· Provide advanced technical support and mentoring for escalated incidents and problems.

· Perform infrastructure reviews, health assessments, and compliance audits.

· Create and maintain technical standards, documentation, and operational procedures.

· Support cyber security programs through system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and security improvements.

· Work closely with business and technical teams to ensure project success and service reliability.

· Contribute to technical solution design, capacity planning, and strategic roadmaps.

· Assist with Business engagement, requirements gathering, and solution scoping activities.

Essential Experience and Capability

The successful candidate will have substantial hands-on experience in infrastructure or senior systems engineering roles, including responsibility for business-critical systems in Microsoft cloud and hybrid environments.

Experience with:

· Firewalls, switching,



and routing

· VLANs, VPNs, and network segmentation

· Wireless network design, deployment, and optimisation

· Network security, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting

· TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and dynamic routing protocols

· Network monitoring, diagnostics, and capacity planning

· VMware vSphere and virtualisation technologies

· Microsoft Hyper-V environments

· Enterprise storage and SAN/NAS platforms

· Backup, recovery, business continuity, and disaster recovery solutions

· Infrastructure monitoring, alerting, and performance management platforms

Microsoft technologies, including:

· Microsoft 365

· Microsoft Azure

· Microsoft Entra ID

· Windows Server

· Active Directory and Group Policy

· Hybrid cloud and hybrid identity environments

· Exchange Online

· SharePoint Online

· Microsoft Intune

· Endpoint management, compliance, and security

· Conditional Access and identity security policies

· Microsoft Defender security solutions

· PowerShell automation and administration
