The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership oversight of BMG’s production activities, in both field and protected cropping environments.

A central focus of the role will be on reducing costs through implementing process optimisation measures, including the effective administration and management of production activities.

Additionally, the Senior Production Manager will provide oversight of the Quality function and act as BMG’s Agronomist, delivering expert advice relating to soil science, fertigation, pests, diseases and overall plant health.

Key focus areas will include:

- Providing leadership oversight of BMG’s field and protected cropping production environments.

- Providing technical agronomical advice on crop management.

- Production planning and the development of sowing and planting programs for all crops.

- Providing timely, relevant and accurate information to the Senior Leadership Team regarding any supply and quality issues.

- Executing technical trials for recent crop varieties and agrochemical products.

- Providing input into future developments, including seedling production and plant propagation.





- Ensuring Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) documentation is up-to-date and in place.

- Managing the company’s production procurement purchasing (e.g. seed, fertilizer, chemicals).

- Managing customer compliance obligations across all production.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will need:

- A degree in Applied Science, Agriculture or related field, with relevant experience, or extensive relevant experience in a similar role.

- 5+ years of technical and hands-on management experience in farm production and /or hydroponics.

- Demonstrable application of agronomy in direct support of growing vegetables and herbs.

- A sound understanding of food science, agronomy, technical compliance and statistics.

- Strong leadership and management skills and experience in managing teams.

- Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders in a complex and multicultural environment.

- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present credibly, concisely and effectively at senior and technical levels.

- Ability to manage time and work to tight deadlines, manage multiple priorities and achieve objectives in a high-pressure environment.

- Creative problem-solving skills to support the development of solutions for complex issues.
