About Us
Centurion Asia Pacific Rentals & Services is part of the global Centurion Group, delivering equipment, infrastructure and specialist services across Accommodation & Camp Services, Water & Wastewater, Lifting, Power & Subsea, and Modular Buildings. Our diverse businesses provide opportunities to build careers across disciplines, businesses and markets, locally and globally.
About the Role
Centurion APAC is seeking an exceptional, hands-on Senior Financial Analyst to deliver forward-looking financial and commercial insight across the business. This is not a conventional reporting or management accounting role. We require an analyst who looks ahead, not back. Explaining what happened is only the starting point. The successful candidate will establish why it happened, identify what is driving it, anticipate what is likely to happen next and advise management on the action required.
The role has been established to strengthen confidence in financial performance and forecasting, and to surface risk early. The successful candidate will not accept unexplained movements in EBITDA, Revenue, Margin or Cash Flow, and will pursue each one until its underlying cause is fully understood.
We are seeking an intellectually curious, commercially astute professional who is comfortable working at a granular level. They will move seamlessly from the P&L; into the general ledger, individual transactions, projects, customers and operational activity to determine what is genuinely driving the result.
About you
The successful candidate will:
- Understand how the business generates value and the operational drivers that underpin its financial performance.
- Interrogate unusual, unexpected or unexplained movements, rather than simply report variances.
- Bring conviction to forecasting, and challenge assumptions where the forecast does not reflect operational reality.
- Proactively identify cost pressures, margin erosion,
revenue leakage and emerging financial risk.
- Anticipate potential "show stoppers" before they materially impact Revenue, EBITDA, Margin or Cash Flow.
- Challenge management assumptions constructively and objectively.
- Pursue issues to their root cause and recommend practical, decisive corrective action.
- Distil complex financial and operational information into clear, actionable commercial advice.
- Earn the position of trusted adviser to management through the rigor, accuracy and objectivity of their analysis.
- Translate key financial/ commercial performance data into executive presentations, dashboards and graphics that simplify business insights and enable effective decision making.
What Success Looks Like
The successful candidate will give management greater confidence that:
- the forecast is reliable;
- significant movements in performance are fully understood;
- cost pressures are identified early;
- emerging risks are visible before they become material;
- EBITDA and margin movements are clearly explained;
- financial issues are investigated to their root cause; and
- management is never surprised by the numbers.
Success in this role means giving management a clear view of where the business is heading, what is driving performance, what could change the outcome and the action needed to stay on course.
Experience
We are particularly interested in candidates who have operated across a range of businesses, business units or operating environments,
and who have demonstrated the ability to rapidly understand each one and isolate its critical financial and operational drivers.
Such experience may have been gained in:
- Big Four firms such as PwC, EY, Deloitte or KPMG;
- consulting or advisory;
- transaction services;
- corporate finance;
- due diligence;
- performance improvement;
- restructuring or business reviews; or
- a diversified or multi-business corporate environment.
Big Four experience is not a prerequisite. The defining attribute is the ability to enter an unfamiliar business or situation, swiftly grasp how it makes money, isolate the drivers that matter and determine where the risks and opportunities lie. We seek an individual who moves fluently between finance and operations, rather than one who understands the numbers solely from an accounting perspective.
Selection Criteria
- Advanced financial analysis and modelling capability.
- A thorough command of the P&L;, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Proven forecasting, budgeting and variance analysis experience.
- Advanced Excel skills and the ability to interrogate large, complex datasets.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Exceptional investigative and problem-solving capability.
- The confidence to challenge assumptions and senior stakeholders.
- The ability to communicate complex issues with clarity and simplicity.
- Meticulous attention to detail without losing sight of the broader commercial picture.
- Sound professional judgement and the confidence to escalate issues when required.
A skilled accounting qualification, or progress towards one, would be advantageous. However, capability, commercial insight and analytical depth will be valued above qualifications alone.
The successful candidate will need to undergo a pre-employment medical and National Police Clearance check.
If this sounds like you, we encourage you to apply! If you would like more information, reach out to us at ••••@centurionaprs.com.
