Bertas is looking for an experienced Venue Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day operation of our Marrickville shop.

We’re looking for someone organised, confident and experienced in leading a busy hospitality team. You’ll be responsible for running service, managing staff, maintaining standards and ensuring the venue performs consistently across both FOH and BOH.

THE ROLE

You’ll be responsible for:
Running daily service and overseeing the venue from open to close
Leading, training and managing the FOH and BOH teams
Managing rosters, labour and staffing levels
Maintaining strong service, coffee and venue standards
Overseeing stock, ordering and wastage
Ensuring opening, closing and operational procedures are followed
Monitoring cleanliness, food safety and general venue presentation
Identifying operational issues and improving systems and workflow
Working closely with ownership on wages, COGS and overall venue performance

ABOUT YOU

You’ll ideally have:
Previous experience managing a busy cafe, deli, restaurant or similar venue
Strong barista experience
Basic kitchen experience and a positive understanding of BOH operations
An understanding of food preparation, food safety,



stock rotation and kitchen workflow
Experience managing and developing hospitality teams
A genuine interest in helping shape a robust, positive and accountable team culture
A valuable understanding of rostering, labour costs and COGS
Strong organisation and communication skills
The ability to stay calm and make decisions during busy service
A willingness to jump in wherever the venue needs you
Weekend availability

You don’t need to be a chef, but you do need to be comfortable working in and understanding a commercial kitchen environment.

Bertas is a busy neighbourhood venue in Marrickville focused on sandwiches, specialty coffee & drinks and baked goods.

We’re continuing to grow and are looking for someone who can take real ownership of the Marrickville venue, lead the team and help us build a stronger operation as the business expands.
