About the role
n
n
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will design and improve products used across mineral processing and material handling applications.
n
n
This is a hands-on technical role combining 3D modelling, detailed drafting, engineering analysis, manufacturing support and customer-site problem-solving. You will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, sales and customers to turn operational requirements into practical, safe and manufacturable product solutions.
n
n
Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead, you will contribute to new product development, product optimisation and the ongoing improvement of engineering standards and processes.
n
n
In this role you will:
n
n
n
n
Design new products and modifications to existing mineral processing products
n
n
Produce 3D models, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation
n
n
Complete design calculations, engineering analysis and simulation where required
n
n
Conduct site inspections, measurement and reverse-engineering activities
n
n
Translate customer and operational requirements into practical product solutions
n
n
Check drawings for technical accuracy, manufacturability and compliance with drafting standards
n
n
Coordinate designs through engineering review, document release and manufacturing
n
n
Support product installation, performance reviews and technical investigations at customer sites
n
n
Provide technical advice to sales, manufacturing, suppliers and customers
n
n
Contribute to engineering standards, document control and continuous improvement
n
n
Capture and protect product knowledge and intellectual property
n
n
n
n
You will have:
n
n
n
n
A Mechanical Engineering degree, recognised equivalent or Mechanical Engineering diploma
n
n
Strong experience designing mechanical products for mining, mineral processing, material handling or heavy industrial applications
n
n
Advanced 3D modelling and 2D drafting capability using NX or a comparable CAD platform
n
n
Experience preparing manufacturing drawings and supporting products through design release and manufacture
n
n
Sound knowledge of fabrication, casting, machining or other heavy manufacturing processes
n
n
Strong mechanical problem-solving skills and attention to detail
n
n
Effective communication and teamwork skills
n
n
Positive attitude and eagerness to learn
n
n
The confidence to engage directly with customers, sales teams and manufacturing stakeholders
n
n
The ability to work from our Burswood location and travel to customer sites when required
n
n
n
n
Experience with structural calculations, ANSYS or other FEA tools, DEM software, Teamcenter PLM or 3D scanning technology would be highly regarded.
n
n
