We're seeking a Principal Engineer / Consulting Engineer to play a pivotal role in shaping the
n
next phase of a modern smart energy platform. This role sits at the intersection of technical
n
leadership and client advisory, balancing hands-on architectural oversight with strategic
n
stakeholder engagement.
n
You'll operate as a senior technical authority across the program, guiding engineering
n
direction while partnering directly with senior client stakeholders. The platform build is
n
heavily AI-led, and we are looking for someone genuinely proficient in, and motivated by,
n
applying AI across the full software development lifecycle.
n
This role will suit a true full-stack principal who is comfortable moving between React
n
frontends, Node.js-based integration layers, and AWS cloud infrastructure, while also
n
confidently navigating executive conversations.

What You'll Do
n
Engineering Leadership
n
● Define and guide end-to-end architecture across React, Node integration services,
n
and AWS infrastructure
n
● Shape how AI is embedded across the SDLC, from development workflows to
n
runtime capabilities
n
● Provide hands-on architectural oversight across frontend, backend, and cloud layers
n
● Support engineering teams locally and offshore, ensuring standards and delivery
n
quality
n
● Lead technical discovery, solution design, and implementation planning
n
● Ensure scalability, security, performance, and maintainability across the platformClient & Consulting Leadership
n
● Act as a senior technical advisor to client stakeholders, including technology and
n
product leadership
n
● Lead deeply technical discussions while translating complexity into clear commercial
n
outcomes
n




● Influence roadmap decisions through architectural insight and delivery realism
n
● Balance pragmatism and innovation in a client-facing environment
n
AI Across the SDLC
n
● Drive the adoption of AI-enabled development practices across engineering teams
n
● Apply AI in areas such as code generation, testing automation, data intelligence,
n
observability, and optimisation
n
● Identify opportunities to embed AI into product capabilities where appropriate
n
● Maintain awareness of evolving AI tooling and ensure responsible, scalable adoption
n
10+ years of experience in software engineering, with significant experience as a
n
senior or principal/staff engineer
n
● Strong full-stack capability across React, Node.js, and modern TypeScript ecosystems
n
● Deep experience designing and operating systems on AWS
n
● Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code
n
● Proven ability to lead architecture across distributed systems and integration layers
n
● Experience working in consulting or client-facing roles, engaging directly with senior
n
stakeholders
n
● Strong communication skills, comfortable presenting to executive audiences
n
● Genuine interest and applied experience in AI-driven engineering practices
n
● Ability to move between strategic thinking and hands-on technical detail
n
