About the Role
n
We're looking for a detail-oriented engineering co-op student to support our manufacturing and product development teams. This role sits at the intersection of engineering design and production, with a robust focus on change control, product quality, and documentation accuracy.
n
n
You'll work closely with engineers, production staff, and supply chain to ensure that products are built correctly, changes are implemented smoothly, and quality standards are consistently met.
n

Key Responsibilities
n
1) Change Management & Documentation Control
n
• Support engineering change processes (ECOs / ECNs)
n
• Prepare and file change order documentation
n
• Communicate Bill of Materials (BOM) updates to manufacturing and supply chain teams
n
• Help assess and document the impact of design changes (cost, inventory,
production risk)
n
• Assist in defining and tracking use-up strategies for obsolete or revised components
n
• Ensure documentation is accurate, traceable, and up to date
n
n
2) Incoming Inspection & Quality Support
n
• Inspect incoming components for defects, conformance, and workmanship
n
• Verify parts against engineering drawings and work instructions
n
• Document findings and generate inspection reports
n
• Communicate quality issues clearly to engineering and manufacturing teams
n
• Support root cause investigations and corrective actions when required
n
n
3) First Article Builds & Production Readiness
n
• Assist with first article builds and early production runs
n
• Identify gaps or issues in drawings, BOMs, or work instructions
n
• Work with engineering to update and improve documentation packages
n
• Ensure manufacturing processes are clearly defined and repeatable
n
• Help drive continuous improvement in product readiness and build quality
n
nRequirementsn
n
Experience & Skills
n
• Enrolled in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
n
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
n
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and BOMs
n
• Clear written and verbal communication skills
n
• Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment
n
• Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and quality concepts is an asset
n
• Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
n
• Microsoft Teams for communication and coordination
n
• Jira (or similar) for tracking changes, issues, and tasks
n
• Exposure to PLM / ERP systems is an asset
n
n
Nice-to-Have (Not Required)
n
• Experience with CAD drawings or schematics
n
• Familiarity with quality standards (ISO, IPC, etc.)
n
• Previous co-op or hands-on technical experience
n
