Consultant Psychiatrist
to join a well-established public mental health service in
Western Australia
. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Psychiatrists looking for a senior clinical leadership role with a strong focus on
community and regional mental health care
, multidisciplinary collaboration, and service development.n
n This role is suitable for
substantive appointments
and is open to
internationally trained Psychiatrists
eligible for specialist registration in Australia.n
The Role
n
n As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will provide high-level
clinical leadership, assessment, diagnosis and treatment
for adult mental health patients across a regional mental health service. The position includes a mix of
community-based care, inpatient consultation, outreach and telepsychiatry
, and plays a key role in shaping service delivery.n
n You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team including Psychiatry Registrars, RMOs, nursing staff, allied health professionals and Aboriginal health services.n
Key Responsibilities

Provide consultant-level psychiatric assessment, diagnosis and treatment
n
n
Deliver clinical leadership and specialist advice across mental health services
n
n
Participate in community, inpatient and telehealth service delivery
n
n
Support and supervise Psychiatry Registrars and junior medical staff
n
n
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and service planning
n
n
Contribute to safety, quality improvement and clinical governance activities
n
n
Participate in ECT governance and statutory reporting (where applicable)
n
n
Support culturally safe, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care
n
n
n
Essential Criteria
n
n
n
n
Eligible for




specialist registration with AHPRA
(Medical Board of Australia)
n
n
Fellowship with
RANZCP
or
equivalent specialist qualification
n
n
n
(UK CCT, Irish, Canadian RCPSC, American Board, or comparable)
n
n
n
n
Demonstrated experience working as a
Consultant / Attending Psychiatrist
n
n
Strong communication and leadership skills
n
n
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
n
n
n
Desirable
n
n
n
n
Subspecialty interests, teaching or research experience
n
n
Experience in regional, rural or community mental health settings
n
n
Experience with telepsychiatry or outreach services
n
n
n
