Tasks and Responsibilities:
n
n
· establishing job requirements
n from drawings and specifications, and laying out installation reference points
n
n
· drilling holes, installing
n mounting brackets and cutting, bending and threading piping
n
n
· installing and repairing
n components such as compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches and
n gauges, and copper lines for steam, gas, refrigerant, compressed air, oil and
n chilled water
n
n
· bolting, soldering, riveting,
n welding and brazing pipes to connect equipment, and checking alignment and
n accuracy of fit
n
n
· filling systems with gas or
n fluid to check for leaks
n
n
· test -operating refrigeration
n systems, checking mechanisms and making adjustments
n
n
· removing test gas and fluid
n using vacuum pumps, and filling with refrigerant
n
n
· checking and overhauling
n refrigeration systems, diagnosing faults and repairing and replacing defective
n components
n
n
· adjusting system controls and
n mechanisms and reassembling systems
n
n
· recording causes of




n malfunctioning and action taken
n
n

n
n
Requirementsn

Qualifications and experience:
n
n
· At least three years of relevant experience
n
· Clear and competent
n communication skills
n
n
· The ability to work both
n independently and in a team -based environment
n
n
· In -depth knowledge of
n refrigeration and air conditioning systems and their components
n
n
· Demonstrated ability to fault
n find, dissemble, repair and reassemble.
n
n
· A commitment to workplace health and safety
n
n
· In some instances
n relevant experience and/or on -the -job training may be required in addition to
n the formal qualification
n
n
· Registration or licensing may
n be required.
n
n
· High level interpersonal skills
