The City of Port Lincoln is seeking a Civil Operations Employee to perform the maintenance and construction of Council assets. This role ensures our infrastructure meets Council standards. A secondary aspect of the position involves providing operational assistance to the Open Spaces team when required.

About You:
n
n
To be successful in this role, you will have:
n
n
n
n
An articulated loader ticket
n
n
A backhoe/excavator ticket (or willingness to obtain)
n
n
A Class MR driver's licence
n
n
Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining plant and equipment
n
n
A Work Zone Traffic Management ticket
n
n
You will take direction well, enjoy learning, and thrive as part of a team
n
n
n
n
n
n
The role:
n
n
n
n
Assist in the construction and maintenance of Council infrastructure including:
n
n
n
General civil groundwork
n
n
Line marking, street signage and furniture installations
n
n
Installation of bollards & fencing
n
n
Cleaning & patching drainage pits
n
n
Basic concreting or asphalting
n
n
Pothole repairs and general labouring
n
n
n
n
n
n
n
n
Undertake other general manual tasks using hand tools and operate small plant items, for the minor construction and/or maintenance works as directed.
n
n
Footpath and road verge maintenance and repairs
n
n
Maintenance of coastal assets such as jetties and boat ramps
n
n
Painting and varnishing,
rubbish removal, graffiti removal and general cleaning
n
n
Support the Open Spaces team when required with mowing, pruning and weed control or other tasks as directed
n
n
Diagnose and complete repairs on plant and equipment
n
n
Work collaboratively with contractors and service providers
n
n
Assist with inspections, preventative maintenance and parts
identification/receipt
within required timeframes
n
n
Actively participating in training and WHS programs as required.
n
n
Following all WHS instructions, policies, procedures, processes and specifications.
n
n
Assist in maintaining all Council Plant and Equipment as required
n
n
n
n
n
n
