The role
Gravity Media Australia is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as an MCR-Media Operator.
This role is structured to accommodate both entry-level candidates (including recent graduates eager to kickstart their career in broadcast) and mid-level operators looking to expand their skill set across live media and master control operations.
For entry-level candidates, we provide comprehensive training to ensure you have all the skills needed to succeed.
For mid-level applicants, this is a excellent platform to step directly into dynamic live sports and presentation workflows.
This is a full-time position based in Artarmon, Sydney, offering direct exposure to a diverse range of exciting live TV projects.
The MCR-Media Operator role is working over shift rotations, including weekends and early mornings/evenings as required by live broadcasting schedules.
Role Responsibilities
Working alongside Technical Directors, Engineers, IT, and Producers, you will assist in or lead day-to-day operations depending on your level of experience.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, your duties will include:
Media Operations
Basic switching of live events.
Setting up live streams via hardware and software encoders.
Ingesting, basic editing, file conversion, and delivery using Adobe Premiere Pro.
Live recording and clipping using EVS systems.
Supporting other Media team duties as required.
MCR
Building and managing channel playlists in EVS, ensuring broadcast schedules are strictly maintained.
Setting up and verifying routing for live events.
Configuring and monitoring SRT video streams.
Performing some basic presentation duties, including adding watermarks and managing commercial breaks during live broadcasts.
Entering bookings and schedules into ScheduALL software.
Supporting other MCR/PRES operational duties as required.
Skills & Experience
Entry Level: A recent graduate in Screen and Media, Film, Television, or a related field OR a demonstrated passion for the broadcast industry with a desire to learn.
Mid-Level: Prior experience in live broadcasting, media ops, master control (MCR), or presentation is highly desirable.
Proactive, hands-on attitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
Excellent organisational skills and high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical team.
Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) or broadcast tools (EVS, ScheduALL) is a plus.
Flexibility to work shift rotations, including weekends and early mornings/evenings as required by live broadcasting schedules.
