The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:
Provide routine nursing care and monitor the health, condition, behaviour, and recovery of animals.
Assist veterinarians with examinations, treatments, vaccinations, procedures, and surgical operations.
Prepare animals, equipment, instruments, and treatment areas for veterinary procedures.
Monitor animals before, during, and after surgery, including vital signs and recovery.
Administer medications, treatments, and prescribed veterinary care under veterinary direction.
Collect and prepare blood, urine, tissue, and other specimens for laboratory testing.
Maintain accurate animal medical records, treatment notes, medication records, and clinical information.
Provide post-operative care, wound care, feeding, exercise, and recovery support.
Handle, restrain, transport,
and care for animals safely and humanely.
Clean, disinfect, sterilise, and maintain veterinary instruments, cages, kennels, and treatment areas.
Assist with diagnostic equipment and routine laboratory procedures as required.
Educate animal owners on medication, nutrition, hygiene, post-treatment care, and general animal welfare.
Maintain appropriate infection control, hygiene, biosecurity, and workplace health and safety procedures.
Assist with inventory management and maintain adequate supplies of medications, equipment, and veterinary materials.
