We are seeking experienced and passionate
Disability Support Workers
to join our team at
Emet House
, a home in
Strathfield
for three young men in their 20s with Level 3 Autism Spectrum Disorder, moderate-to-severe intellectual disabilities and complex support needs.
Emet House is a small, supportive community where the residents enjoy being active and involved in the wider community.
We are looking for physically capable, confident and compassionate support workers who can build warm relationships with the residents while supporting them to develop independence and pursue their interests.
About the role
The role includes:
Supporting residents with daily living, personal care and community access
Developing independence and working towards individual goals
Meal preparation, driving/transportation and household routines
Maintaining accurate records and communicating effectively with families and the support team
Fulfilling overnight shifts as required
This position requires experience supporting people with high intensity support needs and complex behaviours of concern,including behaviours that may pose a risk of harm to themselves, others or property.You'll work as part of a collaborative team implementing a comprehensive Behaviour Support Plan with clear proactive and reactive strategies.
About you
We are particularly seeking someone who is capable and confident in supporting strong young men with intellectual disabilities and complex behaviours, while helping them participate actively and positively in the community.
You will ideally have:
Minimum 2+ years' experience supporting people with autism and complex behaviours of concern
A genuine commitment to person-centred support and upholding the dignity of residents
Confidence working independently, solid communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team
A commitment to developing residents' independence and quality of life
Reliability, flexibility and a willingness to receive feedback and undertake ongoing training
Experience using de-escalation strategies and remaining calm during high-intensity incidents
A patient, positive and non-judgemental approach, building trusting relationships
The physical capacity to respond safely when challenging behaviours occur
A willingness to support the Christian ethos and vision of Emet House
Current
NDIS Worker Screening Check
(or willingness to obtain)
Current
First Aid & CPR
(or willingness to obtain)
NSW Driver's License and insured vehicle
Physical capacity to respond safely during behavioural incidents
Availability for
weekend and overnight shifts

Experience in the disability sector
A qualification in disability or a related field is desirable but not essential.
Shifts
Emet House operates
24 hours a day, 7 days a week
.
Our current need is particularly for weekend, evening and overnight support, although day shifts may also be available for the right candidate.
