CPR is a bipartisan public affairs consultancy working across media and issues management, strategic communications and government relations.
CPR works on matters that require quick thinking and flexible individuals who can swiftly understand a client's challenge and come up with creative responses.
Often this includes an element of strategic media engagement.

We support clients to educate and inform stakeholders, influence perceptions and behaviours, attract policy funding and program support and build and protect reputations.
About you
To be effective in this role you will have a proven track record successfully pitching to news outlets across online, print, TV, radio and other local and state (and occasionally national) media outlets.
With your strong media networks, exceptional writing, research and storytelling skills you will help lead CPR's media and public affairs practice.
Your news nous should enable you to craft narratives that will generate interest and coverage, while your knowledge of newsrooms will enable you to pitch the right story to the right reporter the right way.
Your collaborative approach to working with colleagues and clients and a desire to do positive work with – and for – good people should extend to maintaining relationships with key reporters and rounds.
You should have 5-8 years of media and/or media engagement experience gained by working in the media and/or in a media relations role with government, inhouse or in a corporate or consulting setting.
Ideally, you will have:
contemporary relationships and networks across the media landscape
proven ability to pitch stories and secure coverage
the ability to think creatively, strategically and proactively
experience working across multiple online and social platforms
strong writing and communication skills including drafting statements,
media releases, social posts, talking points, etc.
experience engaging with a diverse mix of media outlets
a proven track record responding to media inquiries, interview requests, etc.
a focus on accuracy and discretion at all times
an interest in the world and be creative and curious
the ability to grow, learn and collaborate with colleagues
respect for deadlines, discretion and possess
effective organisational and time management skills.
The role
No two days are the same and during the course of the week you are likely to:
design and deliver media pitches, responses and strategies on behalf of clients
develop content from media releases, talking points, opinion pieces, blogs and other communications materials on behalf of clients
interact effectively with clients, journalists and media organisations as required
maintain client LinkedIn profiles and other online platforms
develop and implement effective engagement strategies and work with a variety of clients on a broad range of issues
prepare reports, submissions and proposals as required
assist in new business generation through tenders, proposals, networking and other initiatives.

Employment arrangements
Based in our Melbourne CBD office, all employment conditions, such as sick/personal leave, annual leave are detailed in the contract.
A competitive salary package in the range of
$130,000 – $150,000
+ superannuation is being offered.
