Total Remuneration Package: The salary range for this position is $76,****** - $112,****** per annum (pro-rata for part time roles).
The total salary package will include employer's contribution to superannuation and leave loading.
Position Information
The NSW Department of Education provides, funds and regulates education services for NSW students from early childhood to secondary school, delivering world-class education through its public schools and providing funding support to non-government schools.
We employ, develop and support teachers, leaders and other staff to deliver the best outcomes for students and to advance the wellbeing of Aboriginal people.
About the Role
Student Support Officers work within the school community to enhance student wellbeing and learning outcomes in partnership with the wellbeing team and the school counselling service.
Student Support Officers provide individual and targeted wellbeing support and whole of school wellbeing initiatives and programs that are evidence-based.
They have a pivotal role in working collaboratively with external agencies and creating referral pathways for students and families to child and family support agencies.
Essential Requirements
A completed diploma or higher qualification in social work, youth work, welfare or related discipline must be attached along with your application
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Valid and current Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Opening Day 1, Term ******, our new high school in Jordan Springs will serve the expanding communities of Jordan Springs and Ropes Crossing, located across both the Penrith and Blacktown Local Government Areas in Western Sydney.
Initial enrolments will include Year 7 and Year 8 cohorts alongside specialised support classes catering to students with diagnosed disabilities and additional learning needs.
The school's master plan accommodates anticipated future growth and incorporates state of the art learning environments and versatile outdoor spaces that foster collaboration, wellbeing and evidence based instructional practices.
The educational framework of our school will emphasise explicit teaching and talent development strategies which are consistent with the Department of Education's High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) Policy.
Situated near Wianamatta Regional Park, our school will respectfully acknowledge and celebrate the cultural heritage of the Dharug People, working in close partnership with the Yarramundi Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG)
to embed culturally responsive pedagogy and a deep respect for Aboriginal histories and cultures.
Our school will serve a multicultural community where local partner primary schools report between 44% and 63% of students from language backgrounds other than English.
