System Engineer
Melbourne | Permanent, hybrid | up to $130K + super
Our client is a leading global provider of retail point-of-sale technology, supplying the hardware and software behind checkouts in major retailers. Their Melbourne Professional Services team is standing up a new rollout of their retail commerce platform for a customer, and needs a hands-on engineer to make it happen.
You'll build the environments, get stores connected and support the rollout through pilot and hypercare.
What you'll be doing
Building application, database and infrastructure environments across dev, test, pilot and production
Getting in-store POS hardware, peripherals, OS images and store networks ready for rollout
Connecting the platform to back-end systems, payments and third-party services
Automating builds and deployments so the rollout scales across stores




Setting up monitoring and providing L2/L3 support through pilot and hypercare
Keeping environments hardened, patched and PCI-aligned, with explicit runbooks for handover
Must Have
Windows and Linux server administration
Retail POS, store infrastructure or peripheral experience
Azure or AWS, plus solid networking (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, firewalls)
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python, with CI/CD and IaC exposure (Terraform, Ansible)
SQL Server or PostgreSQL fundamentals
Confident working directly with customers
