Shape the future of Armadale's transport network
If you're a traffic and transportation engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, turning technical analysis into practical outcomes and having a genuine influence on how a growing community moves — this could be your next chapter.
Armadale is one of the fastest growing areas in WA, bringing a wide variety of traffic and transportation challenges and opportunities. This is your chance to use your technical expertise to help shape the transport network for years to come.
About the Role
At Armadale we are growing at an exponential rate and on the path to fulfil our role as a Strategic Metropolitan Centre. This means we need to continue to plan for, and think differently, about how we develop our built and natural environment so that our community have access to spaces which are safe, functional and attractive.
Also important is that our operational and project teams are set up to successfully meet our community's changing needs, continue to deliver outstanding services and sustainably manage our assets.
As our Senior Traffic & Transportation Engineer, you'll be the City's specialist in traffic and transportation engineering, providing high-level advice that helps us make safe, evidence-based decisions for our growing community.
This is a strategic role rather than a day-to-day traffic management position. You'll work across the City and with external stakeholders to investigate transport issues, undertake traffic modelling and assessments, develop strategic solutions and help turn those solutions into funded projects.
Your work will span everything from major road upgrades and school zone developments to traffic impact assessments, road safety and development proposals.
You'll have the opportunity to:
Undertake traffic and transportation investigations, network capacity analysis, traffic impact assessments and modelling to support sound engineering decisions.
Provide specialist advice to the City, developers, consultants, government agencies and other stakeholders on traffic, transportation and road safety matters.
Develop and submit applications for MRRG, Black Spot and other external funding opportunities,

following projects from initial assessment through to delivery.
Review traffic designs and external technical reports to ensure they align with approved strategies, standards and the City's requirements.
Assess subdivisional development proposals and provide specialist traffic and transportation advice.
Work with Main Roads WA, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders to progress projects and resolve technical issues.
Contribute to the City's transport strategies, capital works programs and long-term planning.
Act as project sponsor for traffic and transportation projects, overseeing scope, budget, risks and delivery.
Share your technical knowledge and provide guidance to colleagues across Technical Services.
No two days will be quite the same. You might start the day reviewing a development application, move into traffic modelling or a road safety investigation, work with a consultant on a transport solution, and finish by preparing a funding application that could help deliver a major upgrade in the community.
About You
You're a strategic thinker who enjoys getting into the detail but can also see the bigger picture.
You bring:
Extensive experience in traffic and transportation engineering, including investigation, modelling, analysis and planning.
Strong technical capability in traffic modelling and network analysis.
The ability to interpret and apply relevant standards, legislation and guidelines and turn technical information into clear, practical advice.
Experience preparing traffic and transport reports, assessments and recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
Experience with traffic funding programs and applications, with an understanding of opportunities such as MRRG and Black Spot funding.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to work with government agencies, developers, consultants and contractors.
A collaborative approach and the ability to provide technical guidance and support to others.

An Accredited Road Safety Auditor qualification or demonstrated progress towards accreditation.
A tertiary qualification in civil or traffic engineering, or a related field.
Most importantly, you're someone who can combine sound engineering judgement with a practical understanding of what works for a growing community.
