Business Development Manager – Engineering
National Engineering Solutions (NES) is seeking an experienced
Business Development Manager – Engineering
to actively generate new business and develop long-term customer relationships across WA's
mining, defence, marine, manufacturing, shutdown, maintenance and industrial sectors
.
This is a genuine
new-business development role
. We are not looking for someone to simply manage an existing customer portfolio. We are looking for a driven individual who can
open new doors, get in front of decision-makers, generate RFQs and convert opportunities into profitable, ongoing work
.
You will have the support of our Henderson workshop and technical team, with genuine in-house and on-site engineering capabilities to offer customers.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Director and workshop team and will have significant freedom to develop new markets, relationships and opportunities for NES.
Key responsibilities
Proactively identify and approach new prospective customers across WA
Generate new leads, RFQs and profitable sales opportunities
Arrange and conduct regular customer and site visits
Build strong relationships with Maintenance Managers, Shutdown Planners, Engineers, Estimators, Project Managers, Procurement Teams and other key decision-makers
Present and promote NES's machining, onsite machining, maintenance and engineering capabilities
Identify upcoming shutdowns, maintenance programs, projects and breakdown opportunities
Follow up quotations and actively work to convert RFQs into purchase orders
Develop new accounts and grow them into long-term customers
Re-engage previous and dormant customers
Assist with vendor registrations, prequalification processes and getting NES onto additional approved supplier lists
Identify opportunities for cross-selling NES's workshop and field-service capabilities
Maintain an active sales pipeline and CRM/customer records
Provide regular reporting on customer visits, leads, RFQs, quoted value, conversion rates,



upcoming opportunities and secured work
Gather market intelligence and identify emerging opportunities within WA industry
Work closely with management and the workshop to ensure customer requirements are properly understood and achievable
About you
We are looking for someone who is comfortable
creating opportunities rather than waiting for enquiries to arrive
.
Ideally, you will have:
Proven experience in business development, technical sales or account development within engineering or heavy industry
Existing relationships or a strong professional network within WA mining, engineering, defence, marine, manufacturing, mechanical maintenance, shutdowns, machining or fabrication
A demonstrated ability to generate new business and convert opportunities into revenue
A good understanding of industrial maintenance, machining, fabrication or mechanical engineering services
Confidence speaking with both tradespeople and senior decision-makers
Strong communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills
The ability to understand customer problems and identify where NES can provide a solution
A proactive, persistent and commercially minded approach
Strong follow-up and organisational skills
The ability to manage your own pipeline and be accountable for measurable results
Full Australian working rights
Experience selling
machining, mechanical services, shutdown support, fabrication, onsite machining or similar engineering services
will be highly regarded.
Most importantly, we are looking for someone who enjoys winning new business and building relationships from the ground up.
What we offer
$100,000–$135,000 base salary + super
