Yuma – Welcome to the Clean Energy Regulator
The Clean Energy Regulator plays a key role in driving carbon abatement and supporting the transition to clean energy in Australia by administering national schemes that measure, reduce and offset emissions.
Through initiatives such as the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme, we support projects that reduce emissions, store carbon and create economic opportunities across Australia - including on land and waters where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have rights, interests and deep cultural connections.

About this Recruitment – Affirmative Measure

Our Role and Functions




The agency is undergoing a period of significant change and growth, with new responsibilities and expanded scope of schemes, such as the Cheaper Home Batteries initiative, Guarantee of Origin scheme and the Nature Repair Market. The agency has also been appointed as the preferred regulator for distributed energy products, also known as consumer energy resources.
With a variety of roles on offer we are searching for candidates who can demonstrate capability in a variety of different areas.

Scheme Operations Division
Our Scheme Operations Division enables entry and participation in the schemes administered by the agency. Staff assess applications and make statutory decisions on client scheme entitlements. The division works collaboratively across the agency to ensure efficient and effective administration of all schemes.
Scheme Support Division
The Scheme Support Division supports the agency to resolve complex issues, advocate for legislative and policy change, screen and monitor client behaviour, address serious non-compliance and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Consumer energy national technical regulator
The Australian Government, in partnership with state and territory governments, has developed a national framework for regulating consumer energy resources. We are preparing to take on the role of the Consumer Energy Resources National Technical Regulator under the framework, subject to legislation.
The new regulatory framework will give consumers greater confidence in their devices, helping them get more value from their energy systems. The framework sets out roles for us as the Consumer Energy National Technical Regulator, including registering suppliers, installers and products; collecting information about installed devices; and monitoring compliance.
Current Opportunities
There are current, immediate vacancies available working within the consumer energy national technical regulator as well as further anticipated vacancies as the national framework is developed and implementation commences. The availability of roles will be staggered as the framework matures and subject to the passage of the related legislation.
The merit pool from this process may also be used to fill roles within the Renewable Energy Target scheme and National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting scheme.
The key duties of the position include:
As an Executive Level 1 you will be expected to undertake work that is complex in nature and operates with a high level of autonomy and accountability. You will manage a defined body of work or lead a small team, exercising sound judgement and initiative to deliver outcomes aligned with organisational priorities. You will be capable of managing competing priorities, providing authoritative and well reasoned advice, and representing the work area with stakeholders.
Many roles involve people leadership responsibilities, including setting direction, managing workflows, developing staff capability and monitoring performance.
The duties across all roles will include:
Provide expert technical and strategic advice on complex or sensitive matters affecting energy systems, technical standards, implementation or operational delivery.
Lead development of technical positions, implementation options, operating approaches and supporting policy, program or legislative products.
Oversee consistent interpretation of technical requirements, market arrangements, system considerations and relevant standards.
Manage complex stakeholder relationships, including negotiation, issue resolution and clear communication of technical requirements and implementation implications.
Lead a team or work program: set priorities, allocate resources, monitor workflow and assure quality of technical and policy-adjacent outputs.
Build capability through coaching, calibration, peer review and feedback to strengthen technical reasoning and decision support.




Commission or lead research and analysis to produce insights on technical feasibility, implementation considerations, system impacts and emerging issues.
Drive innovation and business improvement, including identifying risks, implementing controls and managing change or ambiguity within the work area.

Eligibility
