The Solar Draftsperson is responsible for accurately interpreting residential building plans, designing basic compliant solar system layouts, and preparing quotations and material orders using Energybuild's internal automation design system.
This role ensures that all solar designs align with operational requirements, builder specifications, and relevant regulatory standards, to ensure solar installations are properly planned and documented from estimating through to installation.
Key responsibilities
Design basic compliant solar layouts drawings that meet project specifications, operational constraints, and installation requirements utilising internal automated design system.
Ensure all designs comply with current industry standards, electrical regulations, and solar compliance requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant building codes, solar technologies, and post-installation compliance requirements.
Support quality assurance processes by reviewing drawings for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
Review builder-provided solar plans and modify layouts where required to meet operational standards and installation constraints.
Produce accurate designs that minimise post-installation changes and rework.




Maintain and update drawing standards and templates to ensure consistency across all projects.
Prepare accurate and detailed quotations and material orders for residential solar installations.
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date job schedule for all estimating tasks.
Work closely with builder estimating teams to clarify requirements and resolve issues quickly.
About you
Drafting, estimating or design experience, preferably within the solar, residential construction, or photovoltaic systems.
Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail across all tasks, ensuring accuracy in designs, data entry, and documentation.
A proactive self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion with minimal supervision.
Experience in reading and interpreting building plans and technical drawings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to liaise effectively with builders, customers, and internal teams.
Robust time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
