About the organisation
Our client is a well-established, registered NDIS provider with several hundred staff, supporting participants across multiple states from its Newcastle head office. The organisation specialises in psychosocial and complex-needs support, built on trauma-informed care and a strong commitment to continuity of care. Its reputation has been earned the hard way, one participant, one family and one referral at a time.
The opportunity
The owner is stepping back from day-to-day leadership and moving into a strategic level role on the board, and therefore our client is looking for a General Manager to take the reins and lead the operations into its next stage.
This is a role for a solid operator who is ready to roll up their sleeves from day one. Your first priority will be a structural review, putting the business on a mature, sustainable footing while keeping services steady and revenue growing.
Beyond that, you'll work with the founder to drive the strategy and lead the team with energy and care. You'll grow core services and government partnerships, including in the child protection space, and be the face of the organisation to its people, participants, families and partners.
This is a for-profit organisation in a sector with thin margins. Growth here has to be commercially sustainable, and you'll understand that instinctively.
What you'll bring
First and foremost you must be participant outcome driven - this is a business built on care and quality delivery outcomes for those they support
Senior leadership experience as a GM, CEO, COO or equivalent, ideally in a regulated or people-focused sector
Strong commercial and financial acumen, with a track record of managing budgets, cash flow and margin
Experience leading a structural review, restructure or turnaround while keeping services stable
Exceptional people skills and emotional intelligence, with the presence to lead, inspire and have hard conversations well
A proactive, dynamic style and an appetite for a genuine challenge
Experience reporting to a Board, and a sound understanding of governance
Experience in the NDIS, community services or government sectors, and particularly with child protection, would be a bonus but is not essential. Our client is most interested in the right person that can effectively deliver commerciality within the care space.
What's on offer
A permanent, full-time executive role based in Newcastle, with interstate travel as required
A competitive executive package plus superannuation, company vehicle and fuel card
The chance to lead an organisation with a strong brand, a loyal community and a clear path to growth
