Join Trauma Assist, a trauma informed organisation dedicated to supporting children, young people and families impacted by trauma, behavioural challenges and neurodevelopmental presentations.
We are seeking Developmental Intervention Practitioners to join our multidisciplinary team. Working alongside Trauma Counsellors, you will provide practical behavioural intervention, emotional regulation coaching and family support to children, primarily up to 10 years of age, who present with behavioural, emotional, developmental, ASD and ADHD related challenges.

About the Role
The Developmental Intervention Practitioner provides practical, child focused support aimed at improving emotional wellbeing, behaviour, social skills and functional outcomes for children.
You will work directly with children and families to:
Support emotional regulation and self management skills
Implement positive behaviour support strategies
Build resilience, confidence and social skills
Assist children to develop routines, coping strategies and healthy relationships
Provide psychoeducation and practical coaching to parents and caregivers
Support families to better understand trauma, attachment, ASD and ADHD
Collaborate with schools, health professionals and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
This role focuses on behavioural intervention, skill development and caregiver support and does not provide clinical counselling services.
The role will be supported by a clinical counselling lead.
Key Requirements
Degree qualifications in Psychology, Applied Psychology, Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Human Services, Education (Early Childhood or Primary), Behavioural Science or a related discipline.
Practical experience working within Allied Health, Child Development,
Family Support or Counselling Services and supporting children impacted by trauma, family violence, abuse or neglect
Knowledge and application of trauma informed practice
Ability to build strong relationships with children, families and caregivers
Experience providing coaching, psychoeducation or practical support to parents and carers
Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills
Well developed documentation, report writing and organisational skills
Current Queensland Driver Licence (C Class)
Current Blue Card or ability to obtain
Ability to successfully complete a Criminal History Check
Highly Regarded
Diploma qualified candidates with significant experience in Early Childhood, Allied Health, Behaviour Support, Family Support or Child Development
Practical experience working with children presenting with behavioural, emotional, developmental, ASD and ADHD related challenges in early childhood
Training in behaviour support, emotional regulation, attachment focused interventions or child development frameworks
Experience delivering parent coaching, caregiver education or family capacity building programs
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
