In this role you are responsible for providing high standard preventative and corrective maintenance services for Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service buildings, plant, equipment, fixtures and fittings.
About us:
Infrastructure Asset Management (IAM) provides planning, construction, operation and maintenance of all Health Service physical facilities, engineering systems, plant and equipment to meet strategic objectives within a quality environment. IAM is staffed with professional, trade operational, and administrative staff. Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, trade assistants and apprentices.
The unit is accountable for facility maintenance and asset management in CHHHS and ensures all clinical and administrative buildings are compliant with statutory checks and inspections necessary to comply with Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards. IAM provides 24-hour corrective maintenance and breakdown service for the facilities around the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

About your opportunity:
In this position you will....
Support the delivery of capital projects in a live health service delivery environment ensuring no adverse impacts of on clinical service delivery, patients, visitors, and staff.
Install air conditioning and refrigeration systems and sub-components with specific emphasis on evacuation and charging of gas circuits with the ability to conduct high quality silver soldering to effect same.
Comply with and utilise policies, procedures, Regulations and Standards which impact upon the position, and practices such as Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination Policies.
Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD)evidence as required for your employment in accordance with legislation/government policy and Directives.
