About the area
The School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Western Australia (UWA) is a leading centre for education and research across biological, medical and health sciences. Located within the renowned QEII Medical Campus, the School is embedded in one of Australia's most dynamic biomedical precincts, alongside major teaching hospitals, research institutes and clinical partners.
Within the School, the Discipline of Medical Science and Genetics delivers innovative undergraduate and postgraduate education in human genomics, medical science and related biomedical disciplines. The Discipline plays a key role in UWA's Human Genomics major and contributes to a range of health, medicine and bioinformatics programs. Researchers benefit from modern laboratory facilities, strong interdisciplinary partnerships and a collaborative environment that supports translational and discovery-based research.
About the opportunity
Lead and grow an externally funded research program in human genomics, precision health,
genomic medicine, bioinformatics or a closely related field, producing high-impact research outcomes and supervising Honours, Masters and PhD students.
Develop, coordinate and deliver innovative undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, including curriculum development, assessment design and student supervision across human genomics and related biomedical sciences programs.
Build strategic collaborations with researchers, clinicians, industry partners, government agencies and community stakeholders to advance research, education and real-world impact.
About you
PhD in human genomics, precision health, bioinformatics, computational biology or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated track record of research excellence, including high-quality peer-reviewed publications, success in securing competitive research funding and experience supervising higher degree research students.
Expertise in contemporary genomic technologies, genomic data analysis, genomic medicine and/or precision health, with the ability to establish a recognised research profile.
Experience delivering high-quality tertiary teaching, curriculum development, innovative learning design and student-centred assessment practices.
Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and communication skills, with a demonstrated commitment to inclusion, diversity,
equity, consumer engagement and community impact
