The PDHPE & Student Development Teacher has a significant whole-school role in promoting the physical, personal, social and character development of students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Through excellent PDHPE teaching, sport, mentoring and student development initiatives, the position seeks to help students develop healthy habits, resilience, self-discipline, confidence, teamwork, leadership and Christlike character. The role recognises that Christian education is concerned with the development of the whole person and that physical activity and sport provide valuable opportunities for students to learn perseverance, self-control, cooperation, service, stewardship and respect for others.
Key responsibilities
Provide specialist PDHPE teaching across Primary, contributing to Release from Face-to-Face (RFF) provision for classroom teachers
Teach PDHPE to Stage 4 and Stage 5 students
Lead and coordinate sport across the School
Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate PDHPE programs across K–10
Implement relevant NSW curriculum and NESA requirements
Develop appropriate teaching programs, assessment tasks and reporting processes
Differentiate learning to accommodate students with varying abilities and needs
Establish positive, orderly and engaging learning environments
Coordinate weekly school sport, school carnivals, sporting events and competitions
Manage sporting equipment and resources
About you




Hold recognised teaching qualifications and appropriate NSW teacher accreditation
Have appropriate qualifications, experience and/or demonstrated capacity to teach PDHPE
Demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for working with children and young people
Demonstrate the ability to develop positive, appropriate and encouraging relationships with students
Demonstrate solid classroom management and organisational skills
Possess the capacity to coordinate a whole-school sporting program
Demonstrate an understanding of the role that sport and physical education can play in developing resilience, character, teamwork and leadership
Demonstrate initiative, energy, flexibility and a willingness to contribute beyond their own classroom
Work collaboratively and enthusiastically as part of a small Christian school team
Hold or be eligible to hold all required child-safety clearances
