Accounts / Bookkeeping
Eastern Suburbs, Melbourne | Full time | Immediate start
An accounts role with genuine scope
We are a privately owned Australian medical group operating across two closely connected businesses. One provides healthcare services directly to the public, while the other supplies medical products and equipment.
We work with major healthcare organisations, hospitals, pharmacy groups and international medical companies. The businesses are growing, there is plenty happening, and we need a capable Accounts Manager who can helptake ownership of the numbers with our team, and grow with us.
This role works closely with the owners and senior management. Along with managing the daily accounts function, you will provide clear financial visibility, strengthen our processes and help keep the businesses organised as they continue to expand.
We move quickly, back good ideas and give capable people the freedom to make decisions and improve how things are done.
Your responsibilities
Managing accounts receivable and accounts payable
Invoicing, allocating payments and following up outstanding accounts
Processing supplier invoices, payment runs and reconciliations
Medicare and DVA billing, claims processing and reconciliations
Bank, credit card and general ledger reconciliations
Stock and inventory management, reporting and reconciliations
Preparing BAS, IAS and FBT information
Payroll preparation and processing, including superannuation, leave balances and staff entitlements
Cash flow monitoring, month end reporting and maintaining accurate financial records
Liaising with management, external accountants and professional advisers

Identifying discrepancies and improving accounts processes and controls
Who we are looking for
We want someone who takes ownership, follows things through and keeps the details under control. You should be confident working independently, comfortable managing multiple priorities and willing to speak up when something needs attention.
You will need:
A formal qualification in bookkeeping or accounting
Strong accounts receivable, accounts payable and payroll experience
Experience with Xero is essential
Excellent attention to detail and financial record keeping
Robust organisation, communication and problem solving skills
The ability to work across multiple businesses and systems
A high level of discretion when handling confidential information
Experience within medical services, allied health, Medicare or DVA billing would be highly regarded, but it is not essential. Strong accounts capability, reliability and a genuine willingness to take responsibility are more important.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to become a key part of two growing medical businesses, with direct access to decision makers and genuine influence over how the accounts function operates.
As the businesses continue to grow, there is significant potential for the role to expand into broader financial management, reporting and commercial responsibilities.
This is strictly a full time employee position within our business. It is not a contract or outsourced bookkeeping engagement. Applications from contractors or candidates seeking to contract the work through their own business will not be considered.
