TESS Search Partners is partnering with Silentium Defence, an Australian defence technology company specialising in passive radar and sensing systems, to appoint a Chief People Officer based in Adelaide. Silentium Defence develops technology that supports situational awareness and the protection of defence, space and critical infrastructure assets. As the organisation continues to expand across Australian and international markets, this appointment will help ensure its people, leadership capability and organisational structure support sustainable growth.
Joining the executive leadership team, the Chief People Officer will lead the people function and align workforce priorities with the organisation's strategic direction. The role combines workforce planning and organisational development with operational leadership across employee relations, governance and the employee experience. Leading two direct reports, you will develop the capability of the people team, provide trusted guidance to executives and managers, and establish consistent practices suited to a growing international business.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing people strategy, workforce plans and organisational structures aligned with future capability requirements.
Providing guidance on employee relations, performance management and employment compliance.




Strengthening recruitment, onboarding, leadership development and talent management.
Developing practical policies and governance that support consistency and sound decision-making.
Using workforce data and employee feedback to inform priorities and improvements.
Supporting leaders and employees through organisational change across locations and time zones.
You will be an experienced senior people leader with a record of supporting organisations through growth and increasing complexity. You will combine executive credibility and commercial judgement with the willingness to remain closely involved in operational people matters. Experience supporting an international workforce is important, together with strong employee relations expertise, sound governance knowledge and the ability to translate business plans into practical workforce priorities. An approachable and collaborative leadership style will be essential. You will know how to build trust, develop your team and introduce change at a pace that supports the organisation's performance and culture. Experience within technology, product development, engineering or a comparable specialist setting will be highly regarded. Defence experience is not essential.
