About the opportunity
At Australia Post, we're transforming how Australia moves. As our Technical Shift Leader, you'll lead a team of skilled technicians responsible for keeping critical automated processing and operational equipment performing at its best across multiple sites. This is more than a maintenance leadership role. You'll drive equipment reliability, lead operational performance, solve complex technical challenges, and build a high-performing team that keeps our network moving safely and efficiently.
Working closely with Operations, Planners, Engineering Leads, Technical Team Leaders, and technical specialists, you'll play a key role in delivering maintenance excellence, supporting strategic change initiatives, and continuously improving performance across some of Australia's most advanced automated processing environments
What you'll deliver with us
Lead and develop a high-performing technical maintenance team operating across multiple sites.
Drive performance against maintenance, reliability, safety and operational KPIs.
Execute maintenance strategies and work plans that maximise equipment availability and operational performance.
Lead fault resolution, escalation management and rapid-response problem solving for critical equipment issues.
Partner with operational leaders to resolve complex maintenance challenges and minimise operational disruption.
Champion continuous improvement,



reliability initiatives and data-driven decision making.
Use SAP or equivalent maintenance systems to ensure maintenance compliance, reporting accuracy and timely work order completion.
Build strong relationships with Engineering Leads, SMEs and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver sustainable technical solutions.
Support business transformation and change initiatives aligned to Australia Post's strategic direction.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, learning and continuous improvement across your team
About you
You are a people-first engineering leader who can build capability, drive change and deliver exceptional operational performance in complex automated environments.
You bring proven experience leading technical maintenance teams, coaching high performers and influencing stakeholders across operations, engineering and maintenance functions. You're equally comfortable on the floor resolving critical equipment issues as you are leading strategic improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, safety and productivity.
Your technical credibility is supported by an Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical or Electrotechnology qualification, and you'll stand out with additional leadership, change management, Lean Manufacturing, Reliability Engineering or Operational Excellence credentials.
Most importantly, you're a leader who thrives on developing people, driving continuous improvement and delivering reliable, high-performing operations through strong technical expertise and engaging leadership

Market-competitive salary:



earn a competitive remuneration package with a current base salary of $123,342 + 12% Superannuation + Applicable Shift Penalties, Sundays and public holiday penalties plus overtime opportunities where applicable.
