The Chance
This role delivers Council's plumbing, gas, water, wastewater and sewerage maintenance services to the community, ensuring systems operate safely and reliably and all work complies with relevant legislation, codes and Council standards.
This is a residential role in a remote Aboriginal community. If you're an experienced licensed plumber with leadership skills and a genuine commitment to working respectfully with the community, this is a rare chance to step up and build something that matters.
What you'll own:
You will look after the water reticulation assets, including the water treatment plant and Splash Park, support Council's Drinking Water Quality Management Plan, scope works and prepare quotes, manage contractors and keep a strong safety culture on every job.
About You:
Qualifications and skills including;
Current Queensland Plumbing & Drainage Licence
Backflow Prevention endorsement (test, commission and maintain devices)
Construction white card or interstate equivalent
Current "C" Class driver's licence (must be maintained)
Clear national criminal history check or the ability to obtain one
Certificate II or III in Water Operations and Wastewater Operations (or willingness to undertake)
Experience or the ability to obtain an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, with the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Indigenous people, a knowledge of Aboriginal culture and customs would be an advantage.
