Director of Risk and Compliance

ANZUK Executive is pleased to be partnering with Meriden in the appointment of a Director of Risk and Compliance.
Meriden is seeking an experienced professional to lead a whole school approach to enterprise risk, compliance, governance and assurance. Reporting to the Head of Operations, this permanent, full-time role will help ensure that the School's systems support sound decisions, clear accountability and continuous improvement.
Working closely with the Principal, Heads, Director of Human Resources and risk owners across the School, the successful candidate will strengthen Meriden's risk and assurance framework, oversee its compliance program and provide clear, decision focused reporting to School leadership and Council.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and embed the School's Risk and Assurance Framework, including risk appetite, registers, controls and reporting.
Oversee the policy framework, compliance calendar, staff training and evidence of implementation.
Coordinate regulatory and statutory obligations, including NESA, CRICOS, child safety, privacy and school registration requirements.
Support School Council governance processes, including declarations, induction records and compliance reporting.
Establish consistent processes for control assurance, executive attestations and follow up of material actions.
Prepare concise risk, compliance and assurance reports that identify emerging issues, control gaps and decisions required.
Coordinate preparations for audits, reviews and spot checks, and monitor resulting actions.
Support emergency management, critical incident planning and business continuity processes.
About You
Experience and/or qualifications in risk management, compliance, governance, assurance, law, WHS, business administration or a related discipline.




A practical understanding of Australian risk, compliance and WHS requirements, with the ability to apply them in a school setting.
Experience developing frameworks, improving systems and working with leaders who retain ownership of risks in their areas.
Strong analytical, writing and reporting skills, including the ability to turn complex information into clear advice for senior leaders and a governing body.
Sound judgement, discretion and integrity when managing sensitive matters.
A collaborative approach and the ability to move confidently between strategic priorities and detailed implementation.
An appreciation of, and willingness to contribute to, the Christian life and broader community of the School.
