ABOUT THE ROLE:
Due to recent market shifts toward zero emission vehicles and Volgren's strong focus on the development of innovative new bus solutions and processes. The Manufacturing Engineering team is looking to build upon a strong manufacturing team. A Junior Manufacturing Engineer is required for a 12-month fixed full time contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Manufacturing Engineer with approximately 2 years of manufacturing experience who is looking to develop their career in a practical production environment. The role will have a strong focus on conducting time studies to establish standard times for existing/new assembly operations and creation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluation of new production machines/processes considering EV, Hybrid and diesel buses.
Provide day-to-day hands-on engineering support to the production teams.
Conduct time studies for existing and new assemblies.
Develop and maintain process documentation - standard operating procedures (SOPs), process flow diagrams etc.
Design and develop jigs, fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks to support production and assembly processes.
Participate in process audits to ensure adherence to manufacturing process standards.
Analysing workforce utilisation, facility layout, operational data and production schedules, costs to determine optimum efficiency.
Assist with supplier engagement for tooling manufacture and validation.
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues.
COMPETENCIES:
Safety focused on all aspects of the role and on the factory floor.
Creation and updating to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) experience is essential to the role.
Conducting time studies to establish standard times experience is essential to the role.
Jig/Fixture design and assembly utilising AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
Problem solving and decision-making skills.
Project management and time management skills.
Understanding of manufacturing processes and implementation of lean methodologies.
Excellent eye for detail and dedication to accuracy.
Able to work autonomously and part of a team.
Excellent communications skills from shop floor to management.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Production engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
This position also requires the applicant to undertake a pre-employment medical which includes a drug and alcohol analysis, musculoskeletal evaluation and hearing test
