Locum Acute Specialist Psychiatrist- Parramatta, NSW
About the Role:
We are seeking an Acute Specialist Psychiatrist for a locum placement at a specialist public mental health hospital in Parramatta, NSW. This contract runs from 30 November **** to 15 January ****. You will work within a large, multidisciplinary specialist mental health service, with exposure to varied patient presentations and different levels of clinical complexity across inpatient, rehabilitation, forensic, high-dependency and community settings. The service is part of one of NSW's largest and most diverse public health networks, with established clinical networks and strong links to a major tertiary health precinct.
Provide specialist psychiatric assessment and treatment for patients presenting with acute mental illness
Lead clinical decision making and risk assessment within the acute inpatient setting
Participate in ward rounds, case reviews and multidisciplinary team meetings
Provide clinical guidance and supervision to junior medical staff
Collaborate with nursing, allied health and community mental health teams
Contribute to treatment planning, discharge planning and coordination of ongoing care
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation

About You:
AHPRA registered Medical Practitioner with specialist registration in Psychiatry
Experience in acute adult inpatient psychiatry
Confident managing a broad range of acute and complex mental health presentations
Works effectively both autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
Eligible to work in Australia
