Where you'll be working
Located at Westmead Hospital, you'll join the University General Practice Department within Western Sydney Local Health District (WSLHD). You'll work alongside dental and oral health professionals in a dynamic teaching environment, supporting students, clinicians and patients while contributing to high standards of clinical care.
Be part of a progressive NSW Health oral health service in a major teaching hospital environment.
Work closely with dental and oral health therapy students, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Contribute to a culture that values patient safety, professional development, education and teamwork.
Work across WSLHD oral health clinics and, as rostered, hospital, residential, domiciliary and school locations.
Help deliver oral health promotion, preventative care and quality patient experiences.
What you'll be doing
As a Dental Assistant Grade 2, you'll provide expert clinical and radiography support to clinicians and students, helping deliver safe, efficient and compassionate dental care.
Provide high-quality chairside dental assistance, preparing equipment, instruments and materials, supporting procedures,



maintaining moisture control and promoting patient comfort.
Provide expert oversight of intra-oral radiography undertaken by student clinicians, including radiograph processing and radiation safety.
Deliver high standards of infection prevention and control, including PPE, instrument reprocessing, sterilisation and clinical waste management.
Maintain accurate patient records and quality data using NSW Health and Oral Health digital systems, while protecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
Support a positive learning environment through student supervision, staff orientation, training, meetings and oral health promotion activities.

License: Radiography license with the NSW Setting Protection Authority
Qualification: Certificate III in Dental Assisting or recognised equivalent and Certificate IV in Dental Assisting (Dental Radiography)
Selection Criteria:
Recent, adequate experience as a Dental Assistant and with Dental Radiography.
Demonstrated ability to assist the clinician in a four-handed environment,



with a variety of dental procedures including general and specialised care.
Demonstrated ability to perform effective infection control procedures in all aspects of Dental Assisting.
Demonstrated proficiency and accuracy in dental charting.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to comprehend and follow written and verbal instructions
The ability to work in a large, multidisciplinary team, and be able to liaison effectively with a range of individuals including fellow health care workers and the general public.
Excellent organisational, time-management and problem- solving skills.
Recent and proficient experience in using dental imaging software such as Dimaxis/Romexis.
Note: Applicants must hold a current dental radiography licence to be eligible at the time of application.
