We are looking for a proactive Technical Lead in either our Sydney or Melbourne office to own the design and development of new products from concept through to production. You will also be setting the technical direction for your product and make sound, timely design decisions as you take on products of increasing scale and complexity.
WHAT WILL BE YOUR FOCUS?
Own the design and development of your product throughout the full development life cycle, from concept to production.
Drive the capture of product requirements and specifications in collaboration with Product Management, Engineering and external teams, and ensure the product stays compliant throughout development.
Lead the development of product architecture, weighing up the available design options to strike a sound balance of cost, performance and complexity.
Work with Project Management to plan and manage timelines, accounting for internal and external dependencies and communicating changes clearly to stakeholders.
Contribute to our product roadmaps, keeping up to date with industry trends and developments.
Work with other teams across Engineering to identify and clear technical roadblocks.
Be transparent with the team about challenges, failures and successes.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING IN FOR YOU?
Hands-on experience designing and delivering products across concept, design, validation and production, gained over roughly 5 or more years in product development within telecommunications, hardware or connected-device development.
Bachelor's degree in electronic engineering, computer science or a related field.
Strong technical, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, and the judgement to know when to escalates.
Developing leadership and organisational abilities, with a willingness to take responsibility for outcomes.
Well organised and detail oriented, able to set and manage priorities across your own projects.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting whilst remaining calm and measured.
Strong communication, motivational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to tailor messaging from engineer to executive.
Willingness to build professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to remove roadblocks and reach goals.
Able to make decisions based on facts, collaboration and management direction.
Relevant certification or software/platform training is a nice to have, not essential. Hands-on product development experience matters more to us.
