About the Role
We're looking for a L1 Data Centre Operations Engineers to join our 24/7 shift team at our data centre site. You'll be the hands and eyes on the floor — responding to tickets within SLA, carrying out remote hands work on servers and network equipment, running site rounds, and keeping accurate records of everything that happens on your shift.
This is a hands-on, in office role suited to someone already working in a data centre, server or network field support environment who wants to build real depth in critical infrastructure. You'll report directly to the Technical Project Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Starting each shift on time with pre-shift checks, open-ticket review and a written handover — the site is never left unattended
Taking tickets from all channels, confirming priority, impact and authorisation, then responding within SLA and keeping status current
Server remote hands: rack and unrack, LED and log checks, power actions, BMC and console access, assisting with replaceable parts, and escorting vendors
L1 network tasks: port and link checks, console access, inspecting and replacing fibre, copper and AOC, verifying labels and capturing photos and serial numbers
Data centre rounds at least every 12 hours — racks, temperature and humidity, power, liquid-cooling alarms, cabling and access control
Structured cabling and labelling: small-scale copper, fibre, AOC/DOC and power cable installation, dressing, testing and label validation
Supporting asset receiving, scanning, racking, spare parts issue, stocktakes and RMA,

including verifying approvals before any asset leaves site
Maintaining incident timelines, photos, serial numbers and action records — no production configuration or high-risk work without approval
About You
We're looking for someone practical, reliable and safety-minded, who works accurately from documented procedures and communicates clearly under pressure.
You will ideally have:
2+ years in data centre, server or network field support (strong candidates with less experience may be assessed practically)
Working knowledge of servers, switches, rack power, BMC, console, optics and cabling, with the ability to work safely from an SOP
Basic Linux and Windows troubleshooting, with accurate capture of logs, screenshots, photos and site conditions
Ability to meet the physical, PPE, ESD and manual handling requirements of a data centre floor
Willingness to learn and develop within a growing business
Availability for nights, weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster
Excellent communication skills in English, with
Mandarin language skills valued
for building strong relationships with customers, partners and stakeholders across Australia and Asia
If you're a hands-on, practical and organised engineer who takes ownership of your shift and enjoys solving problems on the floor, we'd love to hear from you.
Be careful - Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys. If you see something suspicious, report this job ad .
