About the role
We are seeking an experienced
Leading Hand Technician
to join our team at Grand Prix Narangba on a
full-time basis
. This is a hands‐on leadership position based in
Narangba, QLD ****
, where you will combine your technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities to ensure the smooth operation of our service department. As a Leading Hand Technician, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our high service standards whilst leading and mentoring junior technicians. This position is integral to the success of our operations, bridging technical excellence with team management.
Key responsibilities
Perform a full range of automotive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair work on various vehicle types, including routine servicing, brake systems, suspension, electrical systems, and engine work
Lead, supervise, and mentor junior technicians, providing guidance, training, and quality assurance on technical tasks
Allocate work to team members based on their skill levels and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and to company standards
Conduct quality inspections of completed work to ensure it meets our high standards and safety requirements
Communicate directly with customers regarding vehicle issues, repair requirements, and progress updates
Maintain accurate and detailed work documentation, including job cards and technical records
Assist in the identification and resolution of complex technical problems,
providing support to less experienced team members
Contribute to workshop efficiency by suggesting process improvements and best practices
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times
Participate in ongoing professional development and keep up-to-date with automotive industry developments and current technologies
What we're looking for
A minimum of 5 years' hands‐on experience as an automotive technician, with proven expertise in vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs
A valid driver's licence and current roadworthy inspection certification
Demonstrated supervisory or leading hand experience, showing the ability to manage and mentor team members effectively
Strong technical knowledge across multiple automotive systems and vehicle types
Excellent communication skills, both with team members and customers
A commitment to health and safety practices and a proactive approach to workplace safety
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively and prioritising tasks
Problem‐solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues
A professional approach to customer service and commitment to achieving high-quality workmanship
Relevant automotive qualifications or certifications (such as trade qualifications or manufacturer‐specific training) are highly desirable
