About the Opportunity
Based in Truganina, the Laboratory Technician will safely and efficiently test and inspect products according to MAPEI's standards. This will be conducted using automatic and manual testing equipment, hand tools and instruments, in order to evaluate the properties of the raw materials and finished goods with the goal to assure the quality and reliability of products.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Communicate immediately to the Process operator, Production Manager or any member of management all circumstances which may affect quality or are considered questionable and unacceptable
Set up and perform all necessary tests and inspections on the raw materials and products at specified stages in production process, in order to determine variables, such as dimensions, performance, chemical and physical properties and other characteristics
Document data obtained during testing of raw materials or finished products and log correctly in QC record
Organise retained samples, collect and check documents for incoming materials, if applicable
Participate in all quality activities, such as preparation and testing of lab batches, investigation of non-conformities, evaluation of alternative raw materials, preparation of various certificates
Communicate significant issues or developments identified during quality activities
Assist with the processing of non-conforming products and returned goods
Assist with controlling and reducing quarantine stock
Assist Technical Service in the investigation and verification of complaints due to finished products.
About You
Self-motivated and able to work independently
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail
Ability to think on your feet and have a problem solving mindset
An excellent communicator, both verbally and written.
What You Bring
Previous experience within a similar role, ideally within the same industry
Science related Qualifications, preferably in Chemistry
Basic keyboard skills and knowledge of computers and relevant software applications, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
