Profectus is seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer with F5 expertise to support data centre network and application delivery services within an Australian Government agency. You will engineer, maintain and support F5 BIG-IP platforms that provide load balancing, traffic management and secure access for high availability services. The work covers platform administration, complex troubleshooting, upgrades and hardware refresh, and vulnerability remediation.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and engineer F5 BIG-IP platforms, including LTM, DNS/GTM and APM
Design and maintain F5 configurations, including virtual servers, pools, monitors, SSL/TLS profiles, iRules and certificates
Troubleshoot complex application delivery and network performance issues across multiple technology layers
Perform packet captures, traffic flow analysis, log analysis and root cause investigation
Plan and deliver F5 software upgrades, firmware maintenance and vulnerability remediation
Support hardware lifecycle activities, including refresh planning, licensing, commissioning and handover
Implement changes during planned maintenance windows, including testing, validation and rollback planning
Contribute to data centre network design, resilience and disaster recovery planning
Work with vendors, managed service providers and internal technical teams to deliver operational and project outcomes
Develop and maintain technical standards, documentation and operational procedures
Mentor and transfer knowledge to internal staff
Required Experience
Expert-level experience administering and troubleshooting F5 BIG-IP platforms in large government or enterprise environments
Hands‐on experience with F5 LTM, DNS/GTM and APM,
including high availability clusters
Strong knowledge of load balancing, SSL/TLS, authentication and traffic management
Advanced UNIX/Linux command‐line skills for diagnostics, packet capture and log analysis
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, firewall integration and segmentation in data centre networks
Experience leading platform upgrades, hardware refresh and vulnerability remediation, including testing and rollback planning
Experience working within change management processes for critical infrastructure
Solid documentation skills and the ability to explain technical issues to technical and non‐technical audiences
Desirable Experience
F5 certifications, such as F5-CA, F5-CTS or F5-CSE
Cisco CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Data Centre or equivalent
Experience with Cisco ACI, Nexus switching and integration with load balancing platforms
Automation and scripting experience using Python, Ansible, Terraform or similar
Red Hat or Linux administration certifications
Security certifications such as Security+, CISSP or CISM
Experience supporting Australian Government or regulated industry environments
Security Clearance Requirements
Must be an Australian Citizen
Must have a current AGSVA Security Clearance
Current AGSVA NV1 Security Clearance (or higher) is preferred
