Care Assist Recruitment is seeking a compassionate and reliable
Day Program Assistant
to join our team in North Sydney NSW ****. This is a
casual position
that offers working arrangements to support individuals with disability needs through our day program services. As a Day Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering quality support and engagement to participants, helping them maintain independence, social connection and overall wellbeing whilst accessing our community-based services.
Key responsibilities
Providing direct care and support to program participants during day program sessions, assisting with daily living activities as required
Supporting participants in recreational, social and therapeutic activities designed to promote engagement and wellbeing
Maintaining a safe and inclusive environment for all participants, following relevant health and safety protocols
Assisting with personal care tasks in a respectful and dignified manner
Communicating effectively with participants, families, and team members about participant needs and progress
Supporting the coordination of activities and programs that encourage social participation and community connection
Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required by the organisation
Responding to participant requests and concerns in a timely and professional manner
Assisting with transport-related duties as needed, including support during transit to and from the day program
What we're looking for
Experience working in aged care, disability support, or community services environments
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to connect with participants of diverse backgrounds and abilities
A genuine compassion for supporting vulnerable individuals and a commitment to person-centred care
Ability to work independently and as part of a cooperative team
Good physical fitness and ability to provide hands-on support when required
Current or willingness to obtain relevant certifications such as First Aid and CPR
A valid Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one
Reliability and flexibility, with the ability to adapt to the casual nature of the role
Demonstrated ability to follow policies, procedures and duty of care responsibilities
Preferred: Previous experience in day programs, community centers or similar settings
