Mobility Access Modifications – Preston VIC
Mobility Access Modifications (MAM) is looking for an experienced
MIG Welder / Fabricator
to join our Preston workshop.
This is a hands‐on workshop role for an experienced fabricator with
strong MIG welding skills and experience welding galvanized pipe
, who can work independently from technical drawings and confidently measure, cut, fit and assemble steel components. You'll work on handrails, banister rails, brackets, frames and other fabricated components used in access modification projects across Melbourne.
What You'll Be Doing
Perform high-quality MIG welding and weld galvanised pipe as required
Read and interpret technical and fabrication drawings, job specifications and welding symbols
Independently measure, mark, cut, fit, prepare and assemble steel components
Fabricate handrails, banister rails, brackets, frames and related steel components
Use workshop fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, drills, jigs and clamps
Grind, finish and prepare fabricated components to required quality and presentation standards
Prepare handrails and fabricated components for spray painting and undertake spray painting as required
Check completed work for accuracy, alignment, weld quality and compliance with job specifications
Work with mild steel, stainless steel and other metals used in custom fabrication
Apply practical problem‐solving and logical thinking to fabrication and production issues
Work safely and independently while communicating effectively and providing feedback to the team
Maintain equipment, tools and the manufacturing and warehouse environment in a clean, safe, neat and organised condition
Complete job records, timesheets, quality checks and other required documentation
What We're Looking For
Experience welding galvanised pipe
Ability to
fabricate independently from technical drawings
Strong measuring, cutting, fitting and assembly skills
Strong practical and logical problem‐solving skills
High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
Ability to work safely, reliably and with limited supervision
Good communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback
Strong organisation and housekeeping standards
Availability to start work at 6:00 AM
Preferred
Handrail and banister fabrication experience
Disability‐access product fabrication experience
Candidates who meet the core welding and fabrication requirements are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all of the preferred criteria.
Qualifications
Applicants should have one of the following:
AQF Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, Welding or equivalent, including relevant on‐the‐job training; or
At least three years of relevant welding/fabrication experience in place of formal qualifications

$80,000–$88,000 per annum + superannuation
