The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Systems Administrator) to join a national security agency in Canberra. This is a current position with no incumbent. You'll implement, manage and retire the infrastructure that supports digital services, covering physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure, to senior (EL1 equivalent) engineering standards. You'll support the deployment of Kubernetes and VM-based analysis tools across different cloud environments, and you'll build and maintain OpenSearch clusters and Kubernetes environments. You'll work with a high degree of personal responsibility and autonomy. Given the sensitive nature of the environment, not all work areas can accommodate remote work, so your working arrangement will depend on the team you're assigned to. Successful candidates will also need to complete an Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) before commencing, and the engaging vendor must hold current Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) membership.
Key Responsibilities
Implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (physical, virtual, networking and cloud)



that supports digital services
Support deployment of Kubernetes and VM-based analysis tools across different cloud environments
Apply cloud services and virtualisation experience to application deployment for virtual machine, Kubernetes and codeless applications
Apply containerisation principles, including Docker and Kubernetes
Build and maintain OpenSearch clusters
Build and maintain Kubernetes environments
Work within VMware virtualisation environments
Create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures
Perform all duties to the expected standard of a senior infrastructure engineer
Required
Current or reinstatable TSPV security clearance
Ability to complete the Organisation Suitability Assessment (OSA) before commencementMinimum 5 years' experience in Linux systems administration across varied environments
Proven experience building and maintaining OpenSearch clusters
Proven experience building and maintaining Kubernetes environments
Experience working within VMware virtualisation environments
Experience with cloud services and virtualisation as they relate to application deployment
Familiarity with containerisation principles, including Docker and Kubernetes
Ability to create and maintain system documentation and standard operating procedures
Ability to learn, deploy and maintain new applications highly regarded




Knowledge of designing and creating software solutions around best practice and scale highly regarded
Knowledge of the Essential Eight highly regarded
Ability to exercise substantial personal responsibility and autonomy highly regarded
