Description
CYPRESS (Children & Young People Responsive Suicide Support) provides specialist, trauma-informed suicide postvention support to children, young people and families bereaved by suicide. The Southwest expansion extends the established CYPRESS model across the Southwest region and includes specialist counselling for children and young people, counselling and support for parents and caregivers, family support, care coordination, lived experience activities, community capacity building and strengthened regional referral pathways.
The Southwest service operates within CYPRESS' established clinical governance, quality assurance, risk management, workforce development and reporting frameworks, with flexible outreach, community-based and telehealth delivery across the region.
As the Team Lead - CYPRESS Southwest, you will provide day-to-day operational and practice leadership to the CYPRESS Southwest team while maintaining a reduced clinical caseload providing specialist suicide bereavement counselling to parents, caregivers and significant adults supporting children and young people engaged with the service. The Team Lead actively promotes a family-systems approach, supporting coordinated responses that strengthen family resilience and recognise the interconnected impact of suicide bereavement across family members. As the Team Lead you support safe, responsive and consistent service delivery across the Southwest region and acts as a senior point of support and escalation for practitioners, support workforce coordination, practice quality, risk consultation, service implementation, data quality and continuous improvement.
This is a part time permanent (30 hours per week - 0.8 FTE) opportunity based in Busselton.
Skills and Experiences
Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or another relevant human services discipline with a strong mental health focus.
Eligibility for membership or registration with a relevant professional body appropriate to the qualification and scope of practice.
Experience supporting service implementation, quality improvement or regional service development.
Substantial clinical experience in mental health, counselling, trauma, grief,



suicide prevention and/or suicide postvention.
Demonstrated experience providing leadership, coordination, supervision or senior practice support within a clinical or community mental health service.
Demonstrated capability in suicide and self-harm risk assessment, safety planning, complex case consultation and escalation.
Strong understanding of trauma-informed, recovery-oriented, person-centred, family-inclusive and culturally safe practice.
Demonstrated ability to support multidisciplinary teams, build positive team culture and manage competing operational and clinical priorities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including high-quality clinical documentation and stakeholder communication.
Demonstrated computer literacy, client management system capability and understanding of data quality, outcome measurement and reporting.
Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with health, mental health, education, Aboriginal and community service stakeholders.
Ability to work independently across a regional service workplace, including outreach and telehealth delivery.
You also must possess a current National Police Clearance valid within one year; a WA Working with Children Check and a WA Drivers Licence.
