APS6 Senior Investigation/ Compliance Officer
Location: Canberra
Duration: 12 months with potential for 6 month extension
Salary: ****** k per annum

Our federal government client is seeking collaborative, analytical, and self-motivated professionals to join a growing regulatory team across compliance and investigations functions.
You will work under limited direction with a high degree of autonomy and accountability, contributing to the integrity of the departments funding and framework. This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your regulatory, analytical, and problem-solving skills while working in a dynamic and evolving environment.
You will play a key role in supporting regulatory outcomes through the assessment of complex information, identification of compliance risks, and delivery of high-quality advice to inform decision-making.
Key responsibilities
Conducting risk-based compliance and investigative activities relating to legislative and regulatory requirements.
Reviewing and analysing complex financial, operational, and disclosure information to identify potential risks, issues, or non-compliance.
Utilising data and intelligence sources to identify trends, high-risk behaviours, and emerging compliance concerns.
Contributing to the development and implementation of targeted compliance and risk-management strategies.
Preparing high-quality reports, briefs, correspondence, and recommendations for senior decision-makers.
Managing complex assessments, reviews, and compliance activities in accordance with legislative and procedural requirements.
Coordinating and overseeing administrative and compliance processes to ensure accuracy, quality, and adherence to relevant obligations.
Collecting, analysing, and interpreting information from diverse sources to support regulatory outcomes.
Providing guidance, mentoring,
and support to junior team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
Contributing to the ongoing improvement of policies, procedures, and regulatory practices.
About You
Experience leading or supporting audits, compliance reviews, assurance activities, investigations, or similar regulatory functions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, including the ability to interpret complex information, identify risks, and provide explicit, evidence-based advice.
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering accurate, high-quality outcomes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional documentation and engage effectively with a range of stakeholders.
A collaborative leadership style with experience supporting, guiding, or mentoring team members.
The ability to exercise sound judgement and make informed decisions in a quick-paced and evolving environment.
Flexibility and adaptability in response to changing priorities, legislative requirements, and operational needs.
A commitment to contributing positively to team objectives and broader organisational outcomes.
Highly Regarded
Qualifications or experience in investigations, compliance, auditing, accounting, finance, commerce, assurance, risk, or related disciplines.
Experience working within a regulatory, governance, compliance, investigative, or public sector environment.
Formal investigative, audit, or compliance-related qualifications.
