About the Team
The AEC has a dispersed network of 150 electoral divisions, five of which are located across Tasmania, supported by the State Office in Hobart and office locations across the state.
As a Team Leader, you will be part of a national network of leaders responsible for delivering high-quality electoral services and supporting the conduct of federal elections and referendums. You will work closely with colleagues across Tasmania, other states and territories, and the AEC's National Office to deliver an impartial and independent electoral system with high integrity.
APS6 Team Leaders typically lead teams of between 2 and 10 staff, with workforce requirements increasing significantly during election events. Team Leaders play a key role in supporting and leading an expanding temporary election workforce to ensure election activities are delivered effectively, efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.
During the delivery of a federal election, Team Leaders will likely undertake the legislative responsibilities of the Divisional Returning Officer for a federal electoral division. Election periods are dynamic and fast-paced, requiring leadership across workforce mobilisation, operational logistics, risk management and election delivery activities.
At the AEC, you will build robust professional relationships and supportive networks while working alongside committed colleagues with a shared purpose: strengthening Australia's democracy through the delivery of trusted electoral services.
The Opportunity
The Tasmanian State Operations team is seeking an experienced, motivated and capable Team Leader to lead the Division of Braddon. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in supporting Australia's democratic processes while leading a team responsible for maintaining the integrity of the electoral roll and preparing for future electoral events.
During the preparation phase of the electoral cycle, you will lead a team responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll,

supporting eligible electors to participate in federal, state and local government elections. You will also drive election planning and readiness activities, ensuring your division is prepared to successfully deliver future electoral events.
As electoral events approach, you will play a central role in delivering federal elections, supporting one of Australia's largest peacetime logistical operations. You will lead election delivery activities within your division, balancing competing priorities, managing an expanding temporary election workforce and working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve high-quality outcomes.
We are seeking a proactive leader with strong organisational and people management skills, sound judgement and the ability to achieve results in a dynamic environment. You will contribute to operational and strategic priorities, foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and service excellence while building the capability of your team. Most importantly, you will be motivated by the chance to make a meaningful contribution to the Australian community and strengthen confidence in Australia's electoral system.
The Braddon Team Leader position can be based in either our Burnie or Launceston office. The role includes leadership responsibility for staff located within the Division of Braddon, based in Burnie. Candidates based in Launceston will be required to undertake travel to Burnie in line with operational requirements.
