Traffic Engineer | Have a real say in your projects and your earnings
Brisbane CBD | 3–5 years' experience | Employee owned, with profit share
Engineers with a few years behind them often hit the same wall. The technical work is going well, but they're one of many, and the next step isn't clear. This business is set up differently.
Our client is a well-established, employee-owned engineering consultancy with offices across Queensland, where civil, water, environmental and traffic engineers work side by side. Their projects cover infrastructure, council and private development work across South East Queensland and regional Queensland. They're growing their Brisbane traffic team. They want an engineer with 2–5 years' experience who's ready to have more of a say in how their projects run.
Why people join, and why they stay
- Flexibility is how the whole business works. Hours and location are 100% flexible, and that applies at every level, not just to senior people.
- What you do shows up in your pay. The business is employee owned and pays profit bonuses every six months, with a pathway to shareholding. When the business does well, you do too.
- They grow their own. Staff turnover is very low because they spot talent early and back it with mentoring, coaching and a clear path to running your own projects and clients.
- The team is social. There are monthly lunch-and-learn sessions, regular office socials, Christmas parties, retreats and family days.
Staff surveys put them among Australia's best workplaces.
- You see the whole project. You'll work alongside civil, water and environmental engineers rather than sitting in a traffic silo.
- The office is in the Brisbane CBD, for the days you choose to be in.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing traffic impact assessments and other traffic and transport reports
- Running intersection analysis in SIDRA Intersection
- Doing swept path assessments in AutoCAD
- Writing fee proposals and dealing directly with clients
- Helping plan, manage and deliver projects with the internal team and external stakeholders
- Getting involved in business development if that interests you. It's welcomed, but not expected on day one.
What you'll bring
- 3–5 years' skilled experience in traffic engineering (in Australia)
- Hands-on experience with SIDRA Intersection and AutoCAD (swept paths)
- Experience writing TIAs and technical reports
- Confidence working with clients, councils and project teams
- The drive to take on more. You'll suit this if you want to make an impact in a business, not just get through a workload.
