Data Lead – Workday Transformation
Location: Sydney or Melbourne
We’re seeking a Data Lead to define and deliver the data strategy for a Workday implementation. This role will lead the technical data stream, covering architecture, modelling, integration, migration and governance across Workday and connected enterprise systems.
You’ll help ensure data is accurate, secure and well-governed, while supporting reporting, analytics and responsible AI use. Working with business, technology, architecture, security, risk and vendor stakeholders, you’ll shape practical data solutions that align with business needs and enterprise standards.

Key responsibilities

- Define the data architecture and strategy for Workday and its integration with enterprise systems.
- Develop logical and physical data models to support Workday modules, reporting and analytics.
- Lead legacy data migration planning, including mapping, transformation, reconciliation and validation.
- Guide the development of ETL processes required for data migration.
- Establish data standards, validation rules, stewardship processes, lineage and access controls.
- Work with integration teams to design secure, productive data flows between Workday and external platforms.




- Ensure data architecture supports Workday Prism and external business intelligence tools.
- Identify and shape data opportunities for analytics, automation and responsible AI.
- Partner with risk, security, governance and business stakeholders to ensure data use is appropriately controlled.
- Support risk and compliance activities, including maintaining controls and meeting relevant obligations.

About you
- You have at least four years’ experience in a similar role.
- You bring strong technical knowledge of data architecture, modelling, migration and systems integration.
- You can translate business needs into clear data and technical requirements.
- You have strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and documentation skills.
- You understand data governance, quality, metadata, lineage, stewardship and access controls.
- You can work effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams and external partners.
- Experience with Workday would be highly beneficial.
- Knowledge of superannuation, wealth management or financial services would be valuable.
- A tertiary qualification in a software engineering discipline is listed as a requirement.

This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.
