The Team

We are proud to have a strong Class Actions presence nationally, assisting clients to secure justice in some of the nation's most prominent Class Actions, including the Stolen Wages and Stolen Generations class actions, the Ruby Princess class action and the Worley Ltd shareholder class action. The team is led by an experienced and highly regarded Head of Class Actions, and assisted by a talented and dedicated team of Practice Leaders, Special Counsels, Senior Associates and other legal professionals.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an Associate with experience contributing to the success of running class actions and/or complex commercial litigation to join our growing Melbourne CBD-based Class Actions team on a permanent, full-time basis.

Whether you’ve come from defendant or plaintiff practice, you will have the opportunity to take a active role on prominent cases, including contributing to case strategy, expert evidence and investigations into new class actions. With mentorship from a team of highly experienced class actions practitioners, you will have an ideal balance of autonomy and guidance.

With compassion, connection and purpose, you’ll be a true champion of our clients by:

- Supporting the conduct of multiple class actions, effectively delegating to law clerks and paralegals to deliver on discrete tasks towards these class actions.
- Developing and maintaining solid relationships with stakeholders and class action group members, providing regular and effective communication whilst managing expectations.
- Following Shine's key case management processes to help deliver tasks in full and on time, and support more junior team members to do the same.
- Drafting high-quality legal documents in a timely manner.

What you’ll bring





To thrive in this role, you will have:

- A current practising certificate.
- Experience as a 3+ years' PAE solicitor with strong foundational knowledge across commercial litigation.
- Experience in class actions, either pre-admission or post-admission, is desirable but not essential.
- Experience with e-discovery is desirable.
- A genuine desire to build a fulfilling career as a solicitor across financial services or finance-based class actions.
- A strong ability to build rapport with our group members and take evidence from lay witnesses.
- Strong legal analytical skills, research skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work with and manage large volumes of complex documents and reports.
- A commitment to truly connect with those around you and work together to deliver exceptional results for our clients.
