RETAINED SEARCH / EXCLUSIVE LISTING
About our client
Our client is a global manufacturer of belt conveyor products and services, focused on maximising belt conveyor productivity, uptime and safety for its customers. Founded more than 100 years ago and privately held, the business supports customers in more than 150 countries through a worldwide network of distributor partners.
In Australia, the business is headquartered in Sydney and is now opening a new manufacturing facility in Perth. The Perth site is fitted out with brand-new machinery, including CNC lasers that are higher tech than the machines used elsewhere in the business. It covers fabrication and assembly, and it will run like a start-up: a small team building the operation from scratch and adopting the company's global systems and standards.
The Perth team works closely with the Sydney production team and with sales, quality, logistics, procurement, marketing and HR.
About the opportunity
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will lead production at the new Perth facility and a hands-on team of eight, including three CNC laser machine operators, a welder and two warehouse staff. Each day starts with a toolbox meeting and a walk of the site, with safety first. A planner prepares the production schedule; you make sure the team delivers on time and orders go out to customers.
In this role, you will:

- Build a safety-first culture at the new site from day one

- Deliver product to customers right first time
- Run the site cost-effectively as it grows
- Adopt the company's global production system in Perth

To achieve this, you will run safety walks and incident reporting, introduce 5S and visual boards, track quality and rework through machine metrics, move maintenance from breakdown to preventive, and review cycle times, headcount and overtime. You will manage the suppliers and contractors who service the machines and complete a monthly stock take of critical raw materials. You will meet weekly with the Operations Manager, who also visits the site each month. With two sites in Australia, the role offers a path towards Operations Manager over time.
About you
You are a hands-on leader who works shoulder to shoulder with your team. You may already be a Production Manager, or a Production or Shift Supervisor ready to step up. You take ownership, work independently, put customer service first and bring an inquisitive mind to new technology.
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Production management or supervisory experience in a manufacturing workplace
- Experience with CNC machinery (CNC laser experience is a bonus)
- Experience in a fabrication and assembly environment

- An understanding of different types of steel (preferred)
- Exposure to Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S or Six Sigma (desirable; training is available)
- Knowledge of quality management systems, preventive maintenance and health and safety compliance
- A tertiary qualification in Manufacturing, Engineering or Business, or equivalent experience
- A current driver's licence
- Willingness to complete a pre-employment health check and drug and alcohol testing

What's on offer
This is a rare chance to set up a production operation from the ground up, with new equipment and the backing of a global business. You will have the level of authority to get things done and to shape how the Perth site runs.

- Lead a brand-new manufacturing facility from the start
- Work with brand-new, high-tech machinery, including CNC lasers
- Induction in Perth, followed by time with the production team in Sydney
- A 1 to 2 week trip to the United States to see the operation on a larger scale
- Weekly meetings with your manager, who visits the site each month
- A path towards Operations Manager over time
- Permanent role, 8:30 am start and a 38-hour week
- On-site parking

How to apply
Submit your CV outlining your experience and suitability for the role. Applications are welcome from candidates based locally or interstate. Your application will be handled according to our privacy policy: https://11recruitment.com.au/privacy-policy.
Please note
This is a permanent role, and applicants must have working rights that align with long-term employment requirements in Australia.
Sponsorship will not be provided.
