The Opportunity
This position is centred on teaching and learning: academic improvement, curriculum implementation, staff development and student outcomes. You'll work closely with the Deputy Principal – Primary, Primary teaching staff, Year Level Advisors, and the Islamic Studies and Arabic Departments to deliver a cohesive, high-quality educational program aligned with the College's Vision, Mission, Islamic ethos and Strategic Plan.
We're looking for a leader with high expectations of students and staff, strong curriculum and pedagogical knowledge, and the communication skills and warmth to build genuinely collaborative professional relationships.
What you'll lead:
Academic Leadership & Improvement
Provide strong instructional leadership across the Primary School. Analyse student achievement data, identify priority areas and lead targeted intervention and extension programs, embedding a culture of evidence-based teaching and continuous improvement.
Teaching & Learning
Lead the development and implementation of high-quality teaching and learning programs, promoting effective pedagogy, differentiation, assessment and consistency in curriculum delivery.
Lesson Observation & Teacher Development
Conduct regular lesson observations and monitor student work, providing constructive feedback that supports teachers' professional growth and classroom practice.
Professional Learning & Collaboration
Lead teaching and learning meetings and professional learning activities, encourage the sharing of effective practice, and mentor both beginning and experienced teachers.
Islamic Studies and Arabic Integration
Work closely with the Islamic Studies and Arabic Departments to strengthen integration of the College's Islamic ethos and Arabic language learning across the Primary experience — ensuring academic excellence is enriched by, not separate from, the college's distinctive identity and mission.
Curriculum Planning & Assessment
Support curriculum development aligned with NESA requirements, and promote assessment practices that genuinely inform teaching and identify learning gaps.
Student Achievement & Intervention
Monitor student progress across all Primary year levels, ensure every student is appropriately challenged and supported, and drive initiatives that lift achievement.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the Deputy Principal – Primary and the broader leadership team to promote teamwork, shared responsibility and collective accountability for outcomes.
Primary School Operations
Support the Deputy Principal – Primary in the day-to-day running of the Primary School, contributing to a secure, orderly and productive learning environment.
Compliance & Professional Standards
Ensure teaching, assessment and reporting practices meet NESA requirements and College policy.
You'll be measured on real progress in:

- Strengthening use of student data in planning and intervention
- Developing teacher capability through coaching and professional learning
- Deepening collaboration between Primary, Islamic Studies and Arabic

- Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and contemporary pedagogy
- Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to lead and support teachers in improving classroom practice
- Confidence using student achievement data to inform teaching and intervention

Highly regarded:
- Previous experience in Primary academic leadership
- Experience leading academic improvement initiatives
- Experience in an Islamic school environment
- Strong understanding of NESA requirements and data-informed teaching
