The College is a co-educational Islamic school in Sydney's South West, committed to providing high-quality education within a supportive Islamic faith-based environment. Guided by their core values of Respect, Opportunities, Care, Knowledge and Service (ROCKS) — alongside faith, integrity, perseverance, leadership and teamwork — we're dedicated to strong academic outcomes, student wellbeing, professional development and genuine partnership with our community. Apply Now!!! DONT MISS OUT!!!
The Opportunity
As part of a leadership restructure, we're consolidating what were previously two separate Deputy Principal portfolios — Teaching & Learning, and Operations — into a single, pivotal Deputy Principal – Secondary role. This is a rare opportunity to shape both the instructional direction and the operational backbone of our Secondary School, working closely with the Principal, Executive Leadership Team, Heads of Department, Heads of Discipline and Heads of Stage.
We're looking for a leader who can move seamlessly between strategic vision and hands-on execution — someone who builds strong teaching practice and keeps the daily machinery of a busy secondary school running smoothly.
What you'll lead:
Strategic & Educational Leadership:
Drive the implementation of the College's Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan across the Secondary School. Lead initiatives that strengthen teaching, learning, student achievement, engagement and wellbeing, while supporting Heads of Department, Discipline and Stage to achieve high standards.
Timetabling & Operations
Take full ownership of the Secondary timetable (via Sentral), staffing, class organisation,
supervision and daily operations — building systems that are proactive, efficient and genuinely responsive.
NAPLAN & HSC Improvement
Lead strategic planning and targeted initiatives to improve NAPLAN and HSC outcomes, with a proven ability to design alternative pathways for secondary students.
NESA, Compliance & Accountability
Ensure the Secondary School meets all NESA, HSC and regulatory requirements — maintaining oversight of curriculum, assessment, accreditation, reporting and documentation, with deadlines clearly communicated and consistently met.
Staff Leadership & Development
Build a collaborative, professional and accountable staff culture through clear direction, mentoring and feedback — supporting professional growth while addressing performance and operational matters promptly and fairly.
Student Wellbeing & Behaviour
Provide leadership in wellbeing, behaviour, attendance and engagement, ensuring consistent policy implementation and a safe, respectful learning environment.
Communication & Community Engagement
Maintain clear, professional communication with staff, students and families — working collaboratively to support student outcomes and uphold the College's values and Islamic ethos.
Executive Leadership
As a member of the Executive Leadership Team,
contribute to whole-College strategic planning, policy and decision-making, working across both Primary and Secondary to support the Principal's College-wide priorities.
What you'll bring:
- Appropriate teaching and tertiary qualifications, with current NESA accreditation
- Significant educational leadership experience in a secondary school setting
- Strong knowledge of the secondary curriculum, assessment requirements, NESA regulations and HSC requirements
- Demonstrated experience in school operations, including Sentral timetabling
- A proven ability to design and deliver alternative pathways for students
- Robust organisational, communication and people-leadership skills
- A track record of meeting compliance obligations and organisational deadlines
- A genuine commitment to academic improvement, collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement
- A strong commitment to the Islamic ethos, values and educational vision of Minarah College
- Strategic, instructional and collaborative leadership capability
- The ability to stay calm, decisive and solutions-focused under pressure
Highly regarded (desirable):
- Previous experience as a Deputy Principal or comparable senior school leader
- Experience in Sentral administration, NESA compliance, HSC coordination, curriculum leadership, staff development, strategic planning or leading organisational change
If you're ready to bring strategic vision and operational discipline together in a role that genuinely shapes the future of our Secondary School, we'd love to hear from you. Apply Now!!! DONT MISS OUT!!!
